Bird Grooming in Jamui | Book on Salonist

Jamui knows birds better than most districts in Bihar, since the reservoirs at Nagi and Nakti fill up each winter, but a cage bird is a different matter and needs a different pair of hands. The work is arranged at the veterinary practice in Jamui town, at a feed counter in the bazaar, or at a house up at Simultala where the air is cooler and the cage has not shifted in a decade.

The quote in Jamui is for the visit. Nail tips on a budgerigar, lovebird or cockatiel come to ₹150 to ₹300, wings where an owner has asked for them are ₹250 to ₹500, and ₹350 to ₹700 covers both at a single sitting. A larger parrot is charged at the top of each, since two people are needed. A drive out towards Sikandra or Chakai adds ₹200 to ₹500, and on the hill roads the arrival window is worth agreeing as firmly as the fee.

Call ahead with the species and the cage size, and ask what the handler has actually held rather than what they list. Salonist brings together 15,000+ businesses across 60+ countries, and the reviews attached to a listing are written by owners who have already watched somebody work. Households along the Jharkhand edge also check Munger on the river, Lakhisarai down the line or Banka over the hills when their own week is full.

The owner who rings has been told, not persuaded. A vet noticed the claws, or a nail caught on the cage cover overnight, and now somebody has to be found who does this properly. Wings are raised in the same conversation and left with the household: a trim lasts to the next moult, and one cut short or unevenly can leave a bird landing hard rather than gliding down. Beak work does not belong on the list under any circumstances, because a beak that has overgrown or changed shape is a sign of illness and an avian vet's job.

Q: How much is this in Jamui?

Nail tips on a small bird are ₹150 to ₹300 for the sitting, quoted the same at Jhajha as in Khaira. Wings on request run ₹250 to ₹500, and the pair together ₹350 to ₹700. Travel up towards Simultala or Chakai is ₹200 to ₹500 on top.

Q: Is there a bath or a clean-up involved?

There is not, and there is no reason for one. A bird given a shallow dish of water bathes itself thoroughly, which is why no honest handler sells that as a service. The appointment covers nails, plus wings if the household has asked.

Q: A growing feather has broken and is bleeding.

That is an avian vet's job and it is urgent. A feather still growing carries a blood supply, and a bleeding nail is handled the same way, whether the cage is in Sono or down by the Kiul. Get the bird into a clinic rather than trying anything at home.

Q: Is it easier to have someone come up to Simultala?

Often, yes, and travel is quoted at ₹200 to ₹500 depending on the climb. A cage that has stood in one room for years travels badly on those roads. Fix the time as well as the figure, because a wasted journey helps no one.

Q: Will the cooler air up the hill make the bird easier to handle?

That is not something anyone can promise about a living animal. What a good handler does is work in a closed room with the fan off, keep the session short and stop if the bird will not settle. Judge the handler on that rather than on the weather.
